Chapter One :Chapter 1

Sebastian fixed his tie, the heaviness of desperation apparent in his eyes as he looked at his appearance in the mirror. His affection for Brenda was unfaltering, however their financial crisis cast a looming shadow over their happiness. The morning sun sifted through the window, enlightening a room filled with unspoken concerns.

Brenda, radiant and heavily pregnant, watched Sebastian with a mixture of concern and hope. She took a deep breath, her voice breaking the silence that hung in the air. "Sebastian, my love, you must ask my mother for a job. If you don't, she might force us apart, and I fear she'll make me marry someone dreadful."

Despite the warmth of Brenda's reassurance, Sebastian's heart felt heavy with the weight of impending doom. The idea of seeking employment from his indifferent mother-in-law seemed like threading through a minefield, but he nodded, determined to protect the life they were building together.

Brenda's family, with their vast wealth and prestigious name, had never embraced Sebastian. Adopted into the family during his youth, he became a thorn in their side when their daughter chose him against their wishes. A previous attempt to seek employment from Brenda's mother ended in humiliation, a memory he shielded Brenda from, sparing her the pain of her mother's disdain.

As Sebastian left the house, Brenda's unspoken fear accompanied him like a haunting shadow. He steeled himself, prepared to face the woman who held the power to dictate their fate.

The opulent mansion loomed before Sebastian, an imposing symbol of the wealth that eluded him. Brenda's mother, a formidable figure, greeted him with a cold detachment that sent shivers down his spine. The grandeur of the surroundings only intensified his discomfort.

"Sebastian, my dear son-in-law," her words dripped with insincerity, "to what do I owe this unexpected visit?"

Summoning the courage to address his dire situation, Sebastian hesitated before finally speaking. "I've come to ask for a job, ma'am. I want to provide for Brenda and our child."

Laughter, sharp and mocking, filled the room as Brenda's mother dismissed Sebastian's plea with a wave of her hand. "You, working here? Preposterous!"

Sebastian's departure mirrored his previous humiliation, but this time the rejection stung deeper. As he left, defeated and wounded, a mysterious phone call interrupted his thoughts.

An unfamiliar number flashed on his phone's screen, an enigmatic invitation to an unknown path. Despite the intrigue, Sebastian dismissed the call with a heavy heart, the weight of his struggles pulling him away from the unknown caller's potential salvation.

Little did Sebastian know that this call would be the first whisper of a fate far more complex and perilous than the challenges he currently faced.

Sebastian, troubled by the rejection from Brenda's mother and the enigmatic phone call, walked away from the imposing mansion. The city's hustle and bustle mirrored the chaos in his mind. He grappled with the weight of his financial struggles and the fear of losing Brenda to her family's manipulative schemes.

Brenda, waiting anxiously at home, felt a sense of unease settle over her. Her intuition whispered that Sebastian's meeting hadn't gone well. As he entered, she looked into his eyes, seeking answers.

Sebastian, unable to conceal his disappointment, recounted the encounter. "I tried, Brenda, but your mother, she ridiculed me once again."

Brenda's eyes welled with tears, but before she could express her pain, Sebastian hesitated. The mysterious phone call lingered in his mind like an unresolved chord. "I also received a strange call, Brenda. An invitation, perhaps."

As he spoke, curiosity and concern etched Brenda's face. The unpredictable path of their future unfolded before them, fraught with challenges and secrets.

The day wore on, tensions escalating within the couple. Unknown to them, Brenda's mother, ever calculating, began orchestrating a series of rejections to ensure Sebastian's continued distance. The couple's fate hung in the balance, entwined with hidden agendas and the impending revelation of a legacy long forgotten.

As night fell, Brenda, her hand on her belly, looked at Sebastian. "We'll find a way, my love. We always do."

The unknown caller kept blowing up his phone with a series of calls.

He answered hesitantly, the voice on the other end sending shivers down his spine. It was Richard, Brenda's brother, the bearer of foreboding news.

"If Brenda remains married to you by tomorrow," Richard's voice dripped with disdain, "she and the child will be disowned. We won't let your poverty drag us down any further."

Sebastian's breath caught in his throat as Richard unveiled the cruel ultimatum. The weight of family expectations pressed on him, threatening to crush the fragile union he shared with Brenda. Unknown to him, the puppet strings controlling his fate were pulled by Brenda's mother, orchestrating a web of deceit that ensnared everyone.

Stunned and desperate, Sebastian stepped outside, the cool breeze failing to soothe the fire of anxiety within him. As he contemplated his next move, a sinister presence manifested in the form of a sleek Lincoln limousine pulling up nearby. The air thickened with tension as strong men emerged, their menacing aura clouding the surroundings.

Before Sebastian could react, a black bag descended over his head, plunging him into darkness. Panic surged through him as he was forcibly dragged into the ominous vehicle. Thoughts raced, his mind fixating on Brenda and their unborn child. The muffled sounds of the city outside served as an eerie backdrop to his captive state.

The car's abrupt halt marked the beginning of a surreal nightmare. Sebastian stumbled as he was led into a mysterious house, his senses dulled by the blindfold. The bag lifted from his head, revealing a dimly lit room and an old man approaching with a furious demeanor.

"Who let you treat our young master this way!?" the old man's voice thundered, echoing through the eerie silence. Sebastian, disoriented and terrified, struggled to comprehend the surreal situation. The old man's eyes narrowed as recognition dawned upon him.

"Sebastian," he uttered in a hushed tone, "it's been a long time. You've come back to reclaim what's rightfully yours."

Sebastian's confusion deepened, a complex puzzle unraveling before him. The old butler's words hinted at a history obscured by time, and as the pieces fell into place, the gravity of his true identity began to weigh on him. The battle for legacy, it seemed, had only just begun.
